Data Protection vs Information Security

Data protection and governance vs. information security.

I have spoken to a number of individuals lately about this topic and it's so interesting to me that so many people confuse the concept of data protection with information security.

They have multiple overlaps but they are very different in many cases. Just because your data is secure doesn't mean that it's private.

Third parties might not have access to it but it may not be as private in the way that you intended or the way that it benefits your company or organization.

Today, think about the difference between privacy and information security and where does governance come into play?
